Indiandiplomacy

India has had a vibrant history of rock art, which flourished in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Orissa. It is said that India has one of the three largest concentrations of rock art in the world. The Bhimbetka rock shelters in Madhya Pradesh, for instance, are a World Heritage site. The paintings found in the rock shelters and caves here depict the life of the people who lived here. Scenes of ch
ildbirth, hunting, flora and fauna, religious rites and so on can be seen etched on the rocks. Some of the paintings are believed to be nearly 30,000 years old. An ongoing International Rock Art festival in New Delhi throws more light on the subject.
